import bootcamp partiton from another Mac?
I just bought a new iMac which does not support Windows XP installation on its bootcamp partition. I would like to import the Windows XP boot camp partition (as a virtual machine) from my old iMac onto the new iMac using Fusion 7. Is this possible?

Hi all...I am doing certification tests and I knew installing staf is a must. How do we achieve this ?
I downloaded VM Workbench 3.0.2 and I dont see the option of installing staf anywhere.
Do I need to install any SDK's or CIMPDK ?.. Is there a link where I can get some pointers ?

Using VDP for physical servers
I am looking for some clarification on the VDP backup capabilities for physical servers.
VMWare documentation states application aware agents support physical servers to backup SQL, Exchange, and Sharepoint. I am trying to find out if VDP can also get a file system backup for file servers and other applications that aren't SQL, Exchange or Sharepoint.
Can VDP backup the file system of a physical server?

Cisco AnyConnect VPN - Internet Access in Parallels VM, but not in VMWare VM?
I run OS X Yosemite and have the latest versions of Parallels and VMWare Fusion. I had been running a Win7x64 Parallels VM happily for a while, until it started to lose stability. I created a new one, and had similar issues. Decided to try VMWare again. Created a new VM there, got it set up, and everything is great except one thing.
On Parallels, I could connect to my client's Cisco AnyConnect VPN and still maintain connection to the internet (needed especially for pushing code to github, while on the VPN) but on VMWare this doesn't work. I checked all versions, settings, etc. for AnyConnect and they are identical. Both are using NAT/Shared network configuration. I then did an ipconfig /all on both VMs to compare.
On both VMs, the "Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Virtual Miniport Adapter for Windows x64" shows up, and are basically identical aside from IPV6 address, and IPv4 Address are one digit apart, obviously not the same.
However, in Parallels the "Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Network Connection" Ethernet Adapter the IPv4 Address, Default Gateway, DHCP and DNS Servers have ALL updated to point to VPN Network servers, where as on VMWare they remain pointing to my local NAT IPs. I am assuming this is the issue, but I certainly could be missing something.

I'm having a problem with running Test-VMHostProfilecompliance if it's being run as a job in powershell.
This command works fine:
connect-viserver vctr-01 -Credential $vc_cred;Get-VMHost esxserver01 | Test-VMHostProfileCompliance
However, when I run this command:

The command completes but then powershell crashes.

Using roaming profiles w/ Microsoft DFS
I am trying to identify why I had a server become unresponsive over the weekend.
We are using Microsoft's DFSR technology to replicate user's roaming profiles to backup servers. The profiles are for our Horizon View virtual desktop environment. The server doesn't crash but the users experience great latency or will even be kicked out of their VDIs and the server needs to be restarted. I have a case open w/ MS about this as well but I was hoping someone might have experienced something similar and what their resolution may have been.

Unable to connect to vCenter Inventory Service - https://192.168.1.10:10443
Hello Team,
vSphere 5.5 Appliance. After authentication using web client i am receiving error:
"Unable to connect to vCenter Inventory Service - https://192.168.1.10:10443"
There are multiple threads on the web which help to troubleshoot windows version - but not appliance.
vcenter vSphere Client is working fine. From View / Administration / vCenter Service Status shows:
vCenter Inventory Service Alert:
"Unable to retrieve health data from http://192.168.1.10:10080/health"
It's a new deployment (was never working before). I can not establish telnet session with 192.168.1.10:10443 nor 192.168.1.10:10080.
What is the problem and how to troubleshoot it ?

Unable to install VMware tools in Win 2012 R2 guest
Hi all,
just upgraded from Fusion 7.0.1 to 7.1.0 because i thought it would fix this problem:
After setting up the Win 2012 R2 guest i try to install the vmware tools choosing the option in the Virtual machine menu. But i always get the message "vmware tools not available for this guest" (hope the translation is exactly the same from my german fusion installation...).
Only the Win 2012 R2 seams to be affected. Linux, Win XP/7, OS X works fine.
Any idea?

ESXi 5.1 hosts randomly disconnects from vCenter
Hi.
After installing vSphere vCenter and ESXi 5.1 (with latest patches), we are starting to see hosts disconnecting randomly from vCenter.
We have different server models but so far, we have only seeing the problem on our HP Proliant BL465c Gen8 servers.
To solve this, we right click the host in vCenter and click reconnect – and sometimes we need to use the Shell to restart the management agent.
Anyone familiar with this issue?

I downloaded converter, started a convert machine but i cant connect to the REHL server so i suspect i have to install something on that server but what?

Filtering objects
Is it possible to change the default selection of columns for filtering? Currently I see that all the columns are selected for filtering by default, and a user may choose to deselect columns if he wants to. Is it possible to configure the client such that only one column will be selected for filtering by default, and a user will be able to add more columns if he wants to?

Patch201410101 - ESXi5.5Patch3 - Possible Bug??
hi all,
Hosts running on Dell M620, M610, M520, R420
colleague of mine is patching all our ESXi5.5 hosts in our VI to patch3 level (2143827) and we have come across something strange:
so far on our 2x Dell M610 hosts, SSH and Direct SHell cannot be accessed anymore.
Is this a bug someone has also come across?

Update Manager files (download patches) are eating up space on the system drive. Need a way to Migrate the files to other volume.
I'm using vCenter 5.1 U3 with Windows 2008 server R2 edition. C: drive have 64 GB but most of the time getting alert as C: drive is full. When I have checked the server C: drive "Program Data" Update Manager folder occupied some more space. I suspect download files are eating my space.
is there a way to change the location of download files?

Applications look disfigured and overlap
Hello, I am using VMware fusion 7.1.0 on my macbook pro retina mid 2014. I have vmware tools installed. I am running windows 7 64 bit and I notice that some applications look disfigured and the GUI sort of overlaps when the virtual machine is set to "automatically adjust user interface size in virtual machine" , so I tried disabling that option and it fixes the problem but then the display size becomes too small. How can I adjust the display size to my preference, I did not find many options under display settings. Thank you
