Есть зашифрованная виртуальная машина с windows 7. Произошел сбой питания.
При входе вводится пароль, настройки доступны.
При попытке запуска вылазит окошко с сообщением:
"The disk 'G:\VM\Windows 7 x64\Windows 7 x64.vmdk' has one or more internal errors that cannot be fixed. Restore from a backup copy of this disk.
The specified virtual disk needs repair
Cannot open the disk 'G:\VM\Windows 7 x64\Windows 7 x64.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
Module 'Disk' power on failed.
Failed to start the virtual machine."

Player RAM & Paging File Allocation in Windows 10 VM
I am running Player 15.5 on Windows 10 x64 1909. I have host drives C and F (the latter containing the VM files) on an SSD. The system has 24GB RAM, of which I had previously allocated 6GB to a Win10 x64 1909 guest. The guest had a fixed 800MB pagefile. The VM's Settings said that we had 47GB of "hard" disk space available; the Win10 pagefile dialog said that space available was 178578MB.
With only a dozen tabs open in each, Firefox and Chrome kept crashing in the guest, so (1) I increased guest RAM to 8GB and (2) I changed guest pagefile to system managed size. After a VM reboot, I saw that pagefile had expanded to exactly 8192MB, even though Win10 calculated a recommended size of only 1919MB.
I found it suspicious that the pagefile size would exactly match the new RAM setting. Experimenting, I reset pagefile to initial 400MB, maximum 10000MB. On reboot, with Firefox and Chrome (and Opera) running, with the same tabs open as before, the currently allocated paging file size was only 440MB, even though recommended size was still 1919MB.
I would try to verify the situation by looking at the actual size of pagefile.sys, but for some reason (in the VM, unlike the host) File Explorer is not displaying it, even with hidden items exposed.
So I'm confused as to whether pagefile.sys exists in the VM, where it is, how large it is, and whether the system allocated pagefile size in a VM behaves or is managed differently from the pagefile in a Win10 host.

AppVolumes Replication - Writables and Appstacks
Hello Everyone,
I'm currently working on getting our Cloud POD completed and the last piece I have to set is the AppVolumes replication between our two sites. Ideally I want to have users with homesites where 50% of users are using Site1 and 50% Site 2. I have two standalone vcenters and App Volumes Managers in each site. For the storage we have Pure and I have already enabled Async replication. With Appvolumes I have created a storage group and I was able to import all appstacks. Then I used the powershell script and was able to replicate all entitlements with no problems. At some point I would like to automate it because right now I'm only snapshoting a replicated Appstack datastore in Site 1 and sending it across to Site 2 and then i have to manually go in and restore it to non-attachable Datastore so then AppVolumes replicates it using storage group and imports it.
As for writables I was trying to accomplish it the same way however it looks like Storage groups either don't apply to writable or it just doesn't work. I looked at the Horizon reference architecture-multi site reference guide and the only thing I can find in it is as follows:
"In use cases where writable volumes are being used, there are a few additional steps: 1. Mount the replicated datastore that contains the writable volumes.2. Perform a rescan of that datastore. If the datastore was the default writable volume location, App Volumes Manager automatically picks up the user entitlements after the old assignment information has been cleaned up.3. (Optional) If the datastore is not the default writable volume location, perform an Import Writables operation from the App Volumes Manager at Site 2."
What I'm seeing though is that storage group doesn't really work on Writables like with appstacks. It doesn't replicate between datastores. Also, If I manually drop a writable vmdk and metadata file to the default writable location, the manager never imports it automatically like mentioned in the article.
At the end of the day what I want to achieve is to have 2 sites and appstacks and writables available at both sites at all times. A user at Site 2 might never have to log in to Site 1 but in case of disaster I would like to have that synchronized and available in both places
Can someone share how this could be achieved or if you are currently doing it, maybe share you setup?

Could not validate NIC settings - Corrupted Horizon Pools
Hello Everyone,
I hope that someone might have so experience with the following error: " Could not validate NIC settings. Desktop edit failed". I'm seeing that error whenever I need t change any provisioning settings on our pools. Not all pools are affected but pretty much 75% of them. We are only using Instant Clone pools. I opened a Support Request with vmware and was told that there is corrutpion in ADAM database and Vmware cannot do anything as it is a microsoft product. To fix the problem I need to delete the pool and recreate it. I understand that deleting and recreating pool is not a big deal however it appears to be happening more and more. At first it was only affecting 2 pools and now it is 7 pools out of 10. I have recreated 2 pools so far and will test if I can change settings later. So far it looks good. We are using Horizon 7.8 and vcenter 6.7 U3.
I'm hoping that maybe someone had a problem like this and might have a solution to that. Thank you in advance

Manage Multiple Start Menu
Hey Guys,
Anyone managing an environment where you have to maintain multiple start menus base on pools or environment under the same DEM? If so, how are you doing it?
I have two environments. One environment is 1803 and the other 1809. Different pools, different applications etc...I can not get DEM to use the same personalized Active Setup and Windows 10 Start Menu custom config

Orchestrator Log Files
Hello,
I'm forwarding all the vRO logs to a Syslog server and I want to reduce the amount of logs.

I need to know more information related to 'metrics.log' and 'vc-metrics.log'
/var/log/vco/app-server/metrics.log
According to the documentation this log "contains runtime information about the server. The information is added to this log file once every 5 minutes."
I saw that "metrics.log" is updated once every 1 minute instead.
There is any setting that can control this behavior?
Can this logs be stopped?
All the logs are related to statistics that I'm not interested to keep them on a Syslog server.

Triple Fault when guest (Win7x86) requests DHCP from host's network.
This started occurring after a Windows update. First it was due to the haspnt drive being installed. Uninstalled that and it actually allowed me to log in. Now every time the NIC requests DHCP info, a triple fault occurs. If setting the NIC to NAT, it'll grab it's own DHCP fine and still can get on the net with no fault. Setting the NIC to host only is fine. Setting it to Bridged but setting a static IP before doing so works also with no fault. A work-around would be to just section off the DHCP pool for static addresses for these VMs (more that one have this problem) and give them all statics; however, I would like to avoid a workaround if possible, especially if there's a solution out there.

VMware Workstation Pro not installing with error code 29144 (SOLVED WITHOUT HELP)
When I was using VMware Workstation Pro, it gave me a notice to upgrade to VMware Workstation Pro 15.5.1. I accepted and then it started upgrading, everything was doing fine until the real setup launched. When it was installed, I got a error with the error code 29144. I tried the 15.5.0 installer. No luck.
If it really helps:
When the real setup launched, I forgot to close VMware and it notified me to close it.
I accidentally launched 2 VMwares and I noticed it by trying to click a VM. I closed the other one after.
I was clicking some buttons during the VMware tools upgrading setup.
I had some programs open, I closed them and still no luck.
I recently ran Disk Cleanup.
When I was browsing through random log files, I found it was trying to find files in the roaming folder of my AppData.

Suddenly having an issue backup up VMs on VMWARE using Veeam B&R (up to date).
The backup fails with the error: Processing SERVER Error: VM 'SERVER' (ref: 'vm-68') is 'Disconnected'

The storage is iSCSi presented on 10GB Ethernet dedicated links.
NAS is alive and well and operating normally and is a Synology RS3617xs+ running latest DSM Image.
The host, the VM and the NAS have all been rebooted.
What is happening to cause this error?

Update to 6.7u3 failed
Hi all,
Recently I've been trying to patch some ESXi servers to 6.7u3. The patching is successful. However after the server reboot, the ESXi is unable to exit maintenance mode. vCenter always throw the error message "Connection refused: The remote service is not running, OR is overloaded, OR a firewall is rejecting connections" whenever I try to exit maintenance mode.
On the esxi hostd.log:

VCP-2019 or VCP-2020
With 2019 coming to a close, I'm wondering how current tests will be viewed towards VCP certification. My nearest testing centers don't have any openings for the VCP 2019 exam until January. Will this exam still be valid at this time? With VMWare going to a dated VCP vertification, when will exams be retired? I don't want to take the 2019 Foundations exam and then not have it count towards a VCP-2020 certification (assuming there will be one for 2020).

i have a esxi 6 u3 on hp g8 server with a veeam B&R on a windpws server 2016.most of my vms are on msa storage(vmfs LUNs).i want to use direct SAN for backup.this server directly connected to SAn Switches via HBA card.the question is:
2- which one you prefer : phisycal or virtual server?
1- according to Veeam solution ,Veeam Backup windows must see LUN as drives but must not initialize them.how add luns to windows.esxi see LUNs .when i wanted to add luns as a drive to windows(vm edit setting->add new hardware->add HDD) it said just can add free space to vm?
is it correct to add a drive to windows ?

NSX-V Load Balancer Backup Server
I'm attempting to develop an NSX-v load balancing configuration with the following requirements:
1. Web1 will be primary web server and should be used if up
2. If Web1 is down, use Web2
3. If Web1 and Web2 are down, redirect to sorry server URL.
This essentially and active/passive configuration with a sorry server as the tertiary. This seems straight-forward in NSX-T, but not so much with NSX-v.
I have been working with application rules and have gotten 1 & 2 to work together, and 1 & 3 to work together, but I'm struggling to find the appropriate syntax to get all 3 criteria to work together. Any insight would be helpful.

Win10.0.16299 on Linux host - "Display Driver failed to start..." How to fix?
Tried to update my Win10 Home virtual machine to 1903 (it had been running 1809). Got most of the way through it, but it finally choked with video driver issues and it will no longer start. I went back to an older saved copy of the VM, Windows 10.0.16299 that was 'clean' and working when I saved it. However, now I am getting the above error message when I open it, along with a note that it is using the MS basic driver, and that I should update the driver. Win10 16299 opens and runs, but in a tiny little box on my 4K screen, and I see no way to expand it.
I am using Workstation Player 15.5.1, and just installed the latest tools for this VM as well. Does this not install the latest video driver for the VM?
Host OS is Linux Mint 19.1 XFCE running on a Dell Precision 7720 and I am using the Nvidia 390.116 driver.
How can I get this to run in a much larger window again? Once I get that fixed, then I'll try to update this older saved VM up to 1903.
I own licenses for VMWare 6, 7 and 8 (full versions), but I let them lapse as I just don't use a VM that much anymore.

Cannot Change Time Zone on Host OS
Hello,
Whenever I change the time zone on the guest OS to CST (Windows Server 2012R2) it lets me, but after I reboot it changes back to PST. Any ideas?
