vsphere 5.1 autodeploy problems again.
I seem to get autodeploy working for a few days and then something goes wrong.
My reference host is compliant, no problems. My second autodeploy host was fine - but yesterday it started to all go wrong.
Rebooted the host and it came up in maintenance mode and did not try to apply profile or take it out of maintenance mode.. yet at that point it was still listed as compliant.
Today I have two problems it appears. looking at the host after it has booted, I have 3 dvswitches, mgmt, vms and iscsi. The vmk ports are not the same number on both hosts... and I had a message that a vmk2 didn't exist, although it did - which is what prompted me to compare. Both hosts have exactly the same three nics configured on the same 3 networks. So I tried to apply the profile again - I get Cannot apply the host configuration. Error: the operation cannot be performed while the host is part of a windows domain. ???? The host profile does join the host to a windows domain. But I seem to be in chicken/egg country.... as the host booted and obviously host profile joined it to the domain, but then perhaps the vmk problem prevented the full application of the host profile... so it is booted and I can't apply host profile without getting this popup error.
I have a sneaking suspician that maybe my host nic mac addresses have changed (this is a lab running under vmware fustion) which is causing the original vmk error, so I guess I'll go through all that next and see if I can fix that... or spin up another host and see if that one is ok and if the same problem occurs to it after time.
Thanks
Bill
