I have two 20 inch monitors connected to a Macbook Pro. Obviously the Mac considers itself to be the main monitor in OS X. If I'm in unity mode I like to make one of the 20 inch monitors my main monitor in the Windows 7 display settings. That way my Windows task bar is on one monitor and not hidden behind the OS X dock.
OS X sees three displays:
- Built in retina display on left
- 20 inch display (#2) in center
- 20 inch display (#1) on right
Windows sees three monitors:
- #1 (left) is Macbook Pro at 1440 x 878
- #3 (center) is 20 inch at 1600 x 1178. I've made this the main display in Windows.
- #2 (right) is 20 inch at 1200 x 1578. This monitor is rotated to have a vertical orientation.
The problem comes when I want to maximize a Windows application on the main monitor. Even though that monitor is 1600 x 1178, the app ends up maximized as 1440 x 878. Windows is maximizing it to the size of the display on the Mac, not for the monitor I'm actually on. If I maximize an app on the right monitor that is oriented vertically, it maximizes as 1200 x 878 rather than 1200 x 1578.
I've seen this problem with VM Ware Fusion 6.0 to 6.04.
Any help or insights would be appreciated.
