I have a 5-node vSphere 4.1 ESXi cluster that has connections to Internal and DMZ subnets, I want to split into two separate clusters, one 2-node for DMZ and the 3-node for Internal. I have migrated all of the DMZ VMs to esx1 and esx2, all internal VMs are on esx3, esx4, and esx5. Currently all 5 hosts have network connections on both subnets and share the same datastores. Can I split this into separate clusters or should I maintain the single cluster and use resource groups, network configurations, and HA/DRS configurations to keep the VMs isolated to the different network zones? Is there a way to split the cluster without downtime for the VMs? Thank you.
