I have a strange issue that I can't find any information on, but I'm betting is a bug. I'm using ESXi 5.0 and VMWare Converter 5 stand-alone. When converting a VM (for back up purposes) with a disk allocation of 40g, I select to use the "not pre-allocated" option. The VM is backed up and is approximately 7g. To make it possible to put on DVD(s), I use the option to split into 2G chunks, also "not pre-allocated." However, when using this option, I get approximately 20 2G files. So it apparently, when using the 2G chunk option, is still pre-allocating even though I've specified that it should not. Has anyone else run into this issue?
