I posted about this early in the release of 10.13.0. Most of my VM's are OS X, or macOS. Up through 10.12.6, after installing VMWare tools, I was able to resize the VM window by simply dragging one corner, and the resolution inside automatically adjusted to the new size. On my MBP/retina, I size VM's to 1440x900. On my 32" monitor running at 3840x2160, I resize the VM's to 2560x1600. This has always worked up through 10.12.6 by simply dragging it bigger. It even told me the new resolution down in the corner where I was dragging it, while I was dragging it.
Now, trying to create a 10.13.x VM that will do the same thing seems to be impossible. I have followed along since the initial release of 10.13, trying each new release of 10.13.x and VMWare Fusion. I have tried all sorts of settings to the VM, to the config files on the host and on the VM (all suggested here). Nothing works. It refuses to change resolution to anything above 1024x768, no matter how big I make the window. I am also unable to drag it out to a size that would accommodate 2560x1600. I've tried "Default for Display" and "Scaled". Scaled always gives one option, 1024x768.
How in the world do a change a 10.13.5 VM window to either 1440x900 or 2560x1600, and have the VM inside that window running at that resolution?
Thanks for any help with this. I am about ready to abandon any idea of having a 10.13.x VM.
