Hello Everyone,
We have two ESXi hosts with v6.5.0 4887370. Each host has a total of two network cards. One QLogic NetXtreme BCM57810 10GB dual port. One port is used for 10GB iSCSI and one is used for 10GB regular VM network traffic. The second network card is a Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5720 1GB dual port that is used for regular VM network traffic.
I was hoping to use one of the 10GB ports to carry VM traffic. However, whenever it's added to the VM traffic vSwitch the host becomes unstable. Some traffic flows and some doesn't. I can get to Remote Desktop to the VMs, but at the same time other traffic to the VMs doesn't work. The connection to the ESXi host also becomes unstable. Everything become rather erratic and random. The moment I remove the 10GB port from the vSwitch everything returns to normal. The other 10GB port on the same card that is being used for iSCSI traffic remains stable and working the whole time during the above.
I'm forced to use the 1GB ports to carry VM traffic, which is stable.
I'm sure the problem could be a million things. Does anyone have general advice on what to check? Any general advice what could be wrong? It happens on both hosts with the same config. I don't think it could be the network cards since it happens on two different hosts with two different cards. Any ideas?
Thanks everyone!
